There are many makes and models of computers available to scuba divers. Which one is best for you? Well, that can be a complicated question and the answers are ofter very opinonated based on who you ask. Things to look for in your diving computer, or things to consider are:
1) What type of diving are you doing?
2) Air, Nitrox, Mixed Gas?
3) Current certification and what certifications are you interested in?
4) Wrist Mounted or Console Mounted?
5) Integrated (using a transmitter)?
The computer is an important piece of equipment. It is important that you know your computer, and understand how to use it. Your computer is going to calculate your NDL (No Decompression Limit) times, it will log your dive time and depth, serve as a log book, and depending on the model provide you with a wealth of information.
If you take your Open Water Scuba Course at Trilogy Dive Center, you will begin learning how to use your computer during class. Something unique to Trilogy Dive Center is our Hyperbaric Chamber. During your class you will make a 60' dive within the chamber to learn how to use your computer and see it actually operate under pressure. No other dive shop in the Tampa Bay area can provide this type of learning environment as NO ONE else has a chamber!
If you are new to Trilogy Dive Center, you can register for a Dive Computer Class and learn your computer during a dive. Bring your computer, or use one of the rental computers, and use it while diving in the chamber. The Trilogy Dive Center Team will teach you how to use the computer and show you the important features.
The chamber dives are conducted on air, there is no water. So while on your dive you can talk with the staff and other divers making the most of your experience.
